Scheffer Ave ♦ Kitchen

  • Bronze satin quartz countertop on the island, bronze craftsman style faucet over the coffee-colored quartz sink.
  • Beadboard wood panels conceal the French doors of the refrigerator and the dishwasher and help maintain the historical character.
  • Engineered lighting that is controllable and uniform; as a result you are never in shadow.
  • Quarter sawn white oak island base with concealed trash basket, microwave and pop-up mixer and seating for 2.
  • Random width, and pegged, white oak flooring with walnut butterlies that was specified by the original architect, thus continuing the existing flooring in the living room into the kitchen and dining area.
  • Custom made arched window replicates the original arched window in the 3-season porch. The French doors to the deck have a matching arch.
  • Artisan Craftsman style oak staircase leading to the family rec room.
  • Now the family enjoys a beautiful view of their backyard and new deck.
  • The living room is now a separate room; and not functioning as a hallway.
  • Clean spacious laundry, a well organized storage system, room to display collections of ceramic art and Arts & Crafts furniture.
  • The homeowners were proud of the architectural significance of their home and are pleased that both the exterior and the interior changes all complement the style of the house.

  • An old home with Storybook Architecture required a major kitchen remodel.
  • A partially torn open kitchen was becoming unbearable.
  • Although the whole house needed work, the clients' budget didn't support an addition or a complete renovation.
  • The existing floor plan was small, tight and flowed awkwardly.

  • Architrave reduced their energy costs by removing concrete block wall at the rear and replacing it with a 6" super insulated wall.
  • A 3-season porch was transformed and expanded by creatively using the space and constructing basement underneath to add more storage and floor space.
  • We also solved several structural problems, replaced the electrical and heating systems and constructed a deck.

"Architrave understands what it takes to deliver uncompromising quality that is on time and on budget. In addition to his deep understanding of traditional homes and the craftsmanship required, Steve Madole became a friend who met all our design goals."
